Racism has to do with identifying the “other,” which is not always a black and white issue. At one point, of course, the Irish immigrants were racialized and heavily discriminated against in this country. However, we can be sure that racism and white supremacy are most definitely interlinked. Does anyone know about the history of the Ku Klux Klan? How did the KKK function to uphold white supremacy during reconstruction?
