HIST 405 Colonial Identities

Discussions Week 1 All Students Posts – 24 Pages

The colonies of New England, the Mid –Atlantic and the Upper and Lower South developed their own forms of culture, conduct and commerce. Given the choice, where would you have preferred to live?  In terms of culture, conduct and commerce, how were these colonies alike? How were they different?…

How did the religious ideals of New England society shape its early history?

I’d like to recommend a fabulous book on this topic: Richard White’s The Middle Ground: Indians, Empires, and Republics in the Great Lakes Region, 1650-1815. In this book White explains the complexity of society in the region of the Great Lakes, and how native cultures interacted with European cultures.
